About Me

Welcome to my blog, Kat’s Declassified! This blog's purpose is to provide college students and incoming college students with a guide and some tips on how to make it through college. Before I begin posting college survival guide content, I wanted to dedicate a post to introducing who I am.

I'm Kat Keenan, and I am currently a second-semester Junior in college. I attend Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey and I’m a Communications major with a concentration in public relations and journalism and minoring in marketing. I went into college undecided, which was extremely stressful, but I am so glad I did this because I got to explore options my freshman year and pick a major that I knew I would enjoy. I took one media class during my freshman and that’s when I decided to major in communications. I am not exactly sure what I want to do once graduating but I am still figuring that out day by day. I am interested in both event planning and sports marketing; however, I feel like finding out my niche is something I will learn more about once I get more experience in the field. I chose Monmouth University because of how many programs they offered and the distance from home; Monmouth’s proximity to the beach was also a huge bonus!

A few things I love are going to the beach, hiking, my dog, Sadie (also known as Bean), and traveling. I have always loved the beach since I was little so choosing a school close to the beach was super exciting for me. This past summer I went to Utah and hiked the mighty five national parks which was something that has always been on my bucket list. I love being outside and hiking the national parks was unreal. I have one dog, Sadie, who is my actual child. My family and I rescued her in February of 2020 right before COVID hit so she is a quarantine pup with attachment issues but she’s still perfect.

Something I am very passionate about is traveling. I find that traveling allows me to gain so much knowledge about other cultures and exposes me to a new way of living. Some of my favorite places I have traveled to are Scotland, Portugal, and Utah. Traveling to these places were amazing experiences and I have so many great memories from these trips. In a few weeks, I am traveling to Ireland for spring break which I can’t wait for! I am also in the process of applying to study abroad in Sorrento, Italy over the summer so fingers crossed I am accepted because studying abroad is something that I have wanted to do since before I even came to college. Now that I’ve introduced myself, I am so excited for the future of Kat's Declassified so stay tuned for upcoming college survival guides and hacks!
