Getting involved with clubs and organizations in college is super beneficial and something that I wish I did earlier on in my college career. Although I am only in two different extracurriculars, it has been something that has made my college career so much better. Getting involved with organizations has helped me make many friends and will help me in the future. I know it can be scary to put yourself out there, but it really is so worth it in the long run.
Going into college, I was extremely hesitant about being in a sorority and joining Greek life. Although my sister and my friends were in a sorority and loved it, I pretty much based everything off of movies I had seen which left me with a bad impression of being in a sorority and Greek life as a whole. I knew that Greek life was big at Monmouth so I kinda had to prepare myself for sorority life before I even got to school; especially because my freshman year was peak covid so I knew that meeting new people would be hard and joining a sorority would help me with that. As cliche and dumb as it sounds, joining a sorority was one of the best things I have done so far in college. Although I still don’t see myself as a super sorority girl, it really has been the highlight of college.
Being in a sorority exposed me to so many new

people and has allowed me to give back to the community through our philanthropy. It’s so corny, but I really have made my best friends through my sorority. If you’re going into college and thinking about joining a sorority or fraternity, I would definitely suggest doing it. Try it out and see if it is right for you, and if it isn’t, you can always drop it! It is worth a shot!
The other organization I am a part of is PRSSA which stands for Public Relations Student Society of America. I decided to join this club sophomore year because I wanted to join an organization related to my major that would give me some experience. Through this club, I made friends who also have an interest in public relations which is really cool. I don’t really know exactly what I want to do once graduating so this club is great because it allows me to meet and talk to individuals in the PR field with all different occupations.

This past week I went to Madison Square Garden with PRSSA and got an all-access tour, got to participate in a panel with employees, and got to go to a Knicks game at night. This was a super cool experience that I never would have gotten to experience if it wasn’t for joining PRSSA.
Being a part of a club or organization on campus is something that can be nerve-wracking at first, but it really is beneficial. Even if it’s a small little club, if you can put it on your resume, it is a good idea to join. My advice: the earlier you get involved, the better!
